Thermal Imaging

Meck Home Inspections uses the latest in technology to provide our customers with the most comprehensive home inspection possible. The use of thermal imaging is just one example of our commitment to excellence.

Thermal imaging is simply the process of converting infrared radiation (heat) into visible images that depict the spatial distribution of temperature differences in a scene viewed by a thermal camera.

By detecting the difference in temperature between a wet area and the surrounding dry areas, thermal imaging can help identify moisture issues that would not be visible during a limited visual home inspection. Thermal imaging is also used to identify areas where the insulation contractor failed to insulate adequately. Inadequate insulation can lead to cold zones in your home, making Chicagoland winters a challenge.

A thermal imaging camera is the only way a home inspector can detect temperature and moisture through dry wall and other building materials. Traditional methods of home inspecting that fail to use this technology, are unable to detect moisture and insulation issues in a home, leaving the buyer unaware and unprepared. Thermal imaging cameras detect a problem first and allow a home inspector to know where to focus on and what problems to look for.
